The Hon Lord Minginish (Roderick John MacLeod)


Lord Minginish was appointed to the Chair of the Scottish Land Court in October 2014. As such he holds the same rank and tenure as a judge of the Court of Session.

He is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh (LL.B. Hons). After qualifying in 1980, he practised as a solicitor before being admitted to the Faculty of Advocates in 1994. In 2000, he was appointed as an all-Scotland floating sheriff based in the Sheriffdom of Tayside, Central and Fife. In 2006, he took up a part-time secondment as Deputy Chair of the Scottish Land Court, combining it with his role as Sheriff, then at Edinburgh Sheriff Court. In 2014, he succeeded Lord McGhie as Chair of the Scottish Land Court and President of the Lands Tribunal for Scotland. He has been a member of the Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland since 2015.
