The Hon Lord Armstrong (Iain Armstrong)
Lord Armstrong was appointed a judge of the Supreme Courts in February 2013.
He is a graduate of the University of Glasgow, and was admitted to the Scottish Bar in 1986 before being appointed a Queen’s Counsel in 2000. He was Standing Junior Counsel to the Department of Social Security from 1998 to 2000 and served as Crown Counsel from 2000 to 2003.
He was a member of the Standing Committee on Legal Education in Scotland from 1995 to 1999. He was a Governor of Fettes College, Edinburgh, from 2001 to 2011 and was a member of the Advisory Panel to the School of Law of the University of Glasgow from 2009 to 2015. He held office as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Advocates from 2008 until 2013.
