Sep 18, 2024

The historic Opening of the Legal Year is to be livestreamed for the first time from the Court of Session.

On Monday 23 September, the ceremony to mark the beginning of the 2024-25 term will be available to watch as it happens on the Scottish Courts and Tribunals website.

In his final Opening of the Legal year ceremony before retiring, the Lord President Lord Carloway will begin proceedings with a speech looking at development and reform across the justice system.

The Dean of the Faculty of Advocates and President of the Law Society are also invited to give a speech during the service. This is followed by a welcoming to the newly appointed King’s Counsel.

The livestream will begin at 10am.
