Judge Susan Walker to be appointed as President of the Employment Tribunal (Scotland)

Following intimation of the upcoming retirement of Judge Shona Simon, President of the Employment Tribunals (Scotland), a recruitment exercise was conducted to select a successor. Judge Susan Walker, current Vice President of the Employment Tribunal (Scotland) was recommended to the Lord President by the panel and will be appointed to the role of President of Employment Tribunals (Scotland) with effect from 16 July 2022.
The Judicial Institute has published a Recovery Plan setting out its strategy for 2022/23 as it continues to support justice in Scotland through the provision of the highest standard of judicial training and education.

The Lord President has appointed Sheriff Pino Di Emidio as Director of the Judicial Institute for Scotland. Sheriff Di Emidio will take up the post on 1 April 2022 for a period of three years.
Lord Tyre, Lord Boyd and Lady Wise have been appointed to the First Division of the Inner House of the Court of Session and will take up their appointment from 5 January 2022.
Three sheriffs are to travel to Belfast next week to share their experience of the Glasgow problem solving courts with representatives from the Northern Irish justice system.
